Dear Parents & Guardians,

We are delighted you have decided to send you children and youth to Camp Tippy. We have a wonderful time planned for this summer. We just wanted to let you know a little about us and Camp Tippy.

Rebecca and I have been Directors/Managers of ABC Camps for 19 years and have worked with over 14,000 children and youth in that time. We have sent all of them home with everything they came to camp with except maybe some clothing items a bible or two. We attend training event through out the year to keep us well informed about new safety standards, and cultural changes in society so we can train our cabin leaders to great the best camp experience for your children and youth. We also JUST LOVE KIDS.

Camp Tippy is accredited by the American Camping Association which is who sets the standards for how camps should operate. This means we follow all guidelines set forth by these governing originations:

bullet

Red Cross -- (health and safety, first aid, and water front activities)

bullet

Board of Health State and local -- (health and safety, sanitation, and food service)

bullet

            OSHA -- (safety)

bullet

ABC IN & KY -- (Christian leadership and owning organization)

bullet

CCCA -- Christian Camp and Conference Association

bullet

ABI -- Christian organization rededicated to raising the standard of Christian Camping

bullet

            ACA -- American camping Association

We are visited every three years by a team from ACA to ensure we are following the guidelines and policies set for by these organizations and our own guidelines and policies.

We do have Red Cross certified lifeguards watching the campers during waterfront activities. All campers have to pass the swim assessment to be able to go into the deeper water. All persons using the water park must wear a life vest. Our swimmer to lifeguard ratio is 20 to 1 with additional trained spotters.

Our staff are Red Cross trained First Aide and  CPR. We do have medical staff available. We do have a camp Doctor available and we are less that 5 minuets from an EMT station. We are so close that in the winter when there are no leaves on the trees we can see the EMT office.

We run background checks on all adult personnel who are here while the campers are on site, cabin leaders, volunteers, grandparents, and staff.

Our accident rate is .6 campers a season. That's far below the national average for camper accidents above and beyond a scraped knees and elbows.

 Our Goals are:

bullet

We operate a Christ centered program

bullet

Everyone will feel Safe (Physically & mentally)

bullet

 Campers feel VALUED and LOVED

bullet

Spiritual growth  (Campers will have a new awareness’ of their life in Christ)

bullet

Social competence (made new friends, got along better with others, learned to work as a team)

bullet

Increased self-identity (learned what I was good at, could try new things and it was OK to fail, felt good about myself and my abilities)

bullet

Increased positive values (learned to respect others, learned responsibility, learned to stand for what is right)

bullet

Gained cognitive skills (learned about the outdoors, learned how a do new things, learned about the God’s creation)

bullet

Participated in adventuresome outdoor activities (had a blast, did cool stuff outdoors)

bullet

Learned from adult role models (the counselors were cool, they helped me a lot, I want to be just like them and work at camp)

bullet

Served/helped others (helped younger campers, did projects for the camp)

bullet

Learned motor skills (earned an archery award, played some new games)

We will provide your children and campers with the best camp experience we possibly can. We will keep you in formed of any issues involving your camper that may occur above or beyond the normal scope of the camp experience such as:
